As a regular Principal Cellist of Paraorchestra, Josh is part of a pioneering ensemble that champions inclusive and accessible music-making. Paraorchestra is dedicated to creating exceptional performances that challenge traditional ideas of orchestral music. Josh’s role in this groundbreaking group allows him to collaborate with like-minded musicians in a creative and supportive environment, contributing to the ensemble’s innovative and inspiring performances.

Josh had the privilege of performing with the renowned City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO) as part of the 2024/2025 Career Accelerator Fellowship and since as an extra tutti cellist. Working alongside world-class musicians, he contributed to a range of performances, from classical masterpieces to contemporary compositions, further refining his skills and gaining invaluable experience within one of the UK’s leading orchestras.

Josh is a founding member of Cinematic Ensemble, a chamber-sized group created to perform modern film and cinematic music with a distinctive, contemporary sound. Launching in 2026, the ensemble brings together strings, woodwind, vocals, synths and keyboards to authentically capture the scale and colour of modern cinematic scores. Alongside performing as a multi-instrumentalist in the ensemble, Josh oversees the management and logistical coordination of Cinematic Ensemble.

Initially focusing on music of one of the world’s most renowned contemporary film composers, Hans Zimmer, several other mesmerising shows will be performed by Cinematic Ensemble.



Josh is a founding member of the Petford Ensemble, a flexible ensemble offering tailored musical experiences for weddings, corporate events, and private performances . Forming in 2019, the ensemble performs across various genres, from classical to contemporary, ensuring that each event receives a personal and memorable touch.   In addition to performing, he is responsible for the ensemble’s administration and logistics, acting as principal fixer, managing musician booking, contracts, scheduling and client liaison. Under his direction, the Petford Ensemble operates in flexible formats ranging from providing soloists through to string quartets, combining exceptionally high musical standards, with a strong emphasis on professionalism and organisation.

As part of the Orpheus Sinfonia Foundation Programme for the 2024/25 season, Josh has performed regularly with the orchestra throughout the year, with repertoire including major works such as Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7, Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 1, Act III of Wagner’s  Parsifal, and Jessie Montgomery’s Starburst . Following the completion of the Programme, Josh has continued working with the orchestra as an extra, recently performing Handel’s Messiah  and at 2025’s Windsor festival .

Soloist

Alongside his ensemble work, Josh maintains an active career as a solo cellist, with performances recognised through multiple performance awards. He regularly appears as a featured soloist in both concert and recording settings. In 2024, Josh performed Elgar’s Cello Concerto with the GPO, marking a significant highlight in his solo career and reflecting his continued focus on major cornerstone works of the cello repertoire. By blending classical technique with modern rock and pop, he helps create a dynamic and exciting performance that captures the spirit of Elton John’s iconic sound while infusing it with a fresh energy. His performances with ‘Forever Elton’ offer audiences an unforgettable musical experience.
