Cinematic Ensemble was founded by award-winning film composer Phil Mountford and cellist / multi-instrumentalist Josh Mountford, and features a distinctive line-up designed to authentically capture both classic and contemporary cinematic soundtracks.
Created specifically for the performance of film music, the chamber-sized ensemble blends traditional forces such as strings and woodwind with vocals, synths, electronics and keyboards, allowing modern film scores to be realised with clarity, depth and impact in a live setting.
Alongside his role as a performer, Josh oversees the ensemble’s management and logistical coordination, contributing to both the artistic direction and the practical delivery of Cinematic Ensemble’s film-focused productions.
Initially centring on the music of one of the world’s most influential contemporary film composers, Hans Zimmer, Cinematic Ensemble will expand its repertoire with a series of further immersive and visually captivating programmes.
